Join SPAWN for our 19th year as an exhibitor at Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

Since its inception 20 years ago, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (LATFB) has grown into the premiere book event on the West Coast. Over time, the festival has added live entertainment and author interviews, so that visitors are now offered comedy, photography, film, art, food–and of course, books.
Attracting more than 150,000 book lovers, the Festival of Books is the single best place to sell your books to America’s largest book-buying market. Small publishers and independent author members can benefit and gain exposure from becoming part of the WPN booth at the Festival. New this year, WPN will promote its booth with a series of press releases highlighting members who are in the booth.
WPN’s president Patricia Fry can tell you from her experience that the WPN booth attracts a lot more people than an author or group of authors sharing a booth of their own. Festivities run throughout the weekend with areas for children and comedy, and special after-dark ticketed performances.
Want to get your books in front of this audience?
Three ways to participate are available:

  1. Join our booth and sell books either one or two days
  2. Have a book on display and included in the annual WPN Catalog of Members’ Books and Services
  3. Be part of the annual member catalog

The WPN Catalog of Members’ Books and Services serves as the brochure for all visitors to the booth. Everyone visiting the WPN booth will walk away with a copy of our beautiful catalog, which lists the books, web sites, and services of our members.
Option One: Be in the WPN booth and sell your books.
Do we sell many books at the festival? Some members do not, but others sell boxes of books. Almost everyone makes valuable contacts that lead to future sales (get gigs on radio talk shows or invitations to do book signings or presentations, meet educators who get their children’s books into schools, find publishers for the next project, discover distributors for specific types of books, and more). One member connected with someone who filmed a documentary based on his military book. The documentary still plays on the Military Channel.
Remember: LA = Hollywood—movie/television types are wandering all over the Festival in search of new content. Two movie studios are sponsors of the event.
If this interests you, sign up now. Space is limited and strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $200 for one day and $350 for two days.
Option Two: Have a book on display in the WPN booth
If you can’t make it to Los Angeles, why not have one copy of your book on display in the booth? It will be featured with the other members’ books for visitors to peruse. This option includes placement in the WPN Catalog of Members’ Books and Services. Cost is $65.
Option Three: Participate in the WPN Catalog of Members’ Books and Services
Besides being the handout at the Festival, the catalog goes wherever WPN is a sponsor of other literary events, and the catalog is available for public viewing on our web site. Cost is $35.

We’ll start taking reservations from members January 5, 2015. Deadline to sign up is February 16, 2015.

The LATFB opportunity is open to members only. If your WPN membership has expired or you haven’t joined yet, this is a good time to take care of business. If you want a major bookselling opportunity and incredible exposure for your book, sign up to join us in the WPN booth—first come, first served.
