Al Blanchard Award Contest

The Al Blanchard Award Contest for 2013 has officially begun. The prize includes a $100 cash award, publication in Level Best Books’ eleventh anthology of short crime fiction by New England authors, free admission to the Crime Bake conference, and a handsome plaque.
Although the award is presented at the Crime Bake in November, the winner is NOT required to attend.
Entries should be:

  • Stories by New England authors, or for non-New Englanders, with a New England setting
  • No more than 5000 words in length
  • Previously unpublished in print or electronically (including on author websites)
  • May include the following genres: mystery, suspense, caper, horror, thriller (with no torture or killing of children or animals)

A maximum of two stories per author may be submitted. The judges will consider stories that have been previously submitted, provided they have been submitted only ONCE before. New England authors may submit the same story or stories to Level Best Books. For submission guidelines, visit : www.levelbestbooks.com.
There is NO entry fee, and the deadline is midnight, April 30, 2013.
